6 out of 10 of the UK’s biggest care groups partner with Radar Healthcare

Running a large health or social care organisation can be challenging; with so many moving pieces which don’t always communicate effectively.

In this blog, we look at how we support some of the largest organisations in the healthcare world, their objectives when they chose us, and how we’ve helped them to keep everything on their radar.

Care Home Professional recently released the UK’s Top 10 Care Groups.

Did you know that 60% of those top players partner with Radar Healthcare

Learn more about how we work alongside HC-One, Bupa, Four Seasons Health Care, Methodist Homes, Sanctuary Care, and Avery Healthcare to improve care quality below.

HC-One

With more than 20,000 colleagues across the UK who deliver the highest standard of round-the-clock care and support to residents (encompassing dementia care, nursing, residential and specialist care) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, HC-One will use Radar Healthcare to help drive forward continuous shared learnings across the entire organisation.

Calling Radar Healthcare “the spine” of HC-One’s integrated governance model, the system is being brought in to not only ensure that any indications of concern are spotted as early as possible but to support the smooth, practical application of valuable learnings.

Antony Hall, Director of Insights, Assurance and Governance said: “We’ve been on a two-year journey to change the culture from being KPI driven to really understanding how learning can provide the highest quality of care to our residents. We’re creating a new innovative insights model and Radar Healthcare is integral to this. We want early warnings and holistic views across our homes. Having that central spine means we can start to have proper conversations around where we can develop meaningful quality improvements and the really exciting element is the insight.”

Bupa

Through the partnership Radar Healthcare provides Bupa with a digital platform for risk, quality, and compliance, meaning that essential activities such as audits, actions, regular tasks, and event reporting can all be captured digitally.

The system allows home managers to carry out quality monitoring and make swift changes, if necessary, while gathering data on themes and trends to improve outcomes and shape how care is provided. And the fully integrated analytics platform allows Bupa teams to demonstrate robust standards to regulators.

The shift away from paper-based processes to digital platforms is part of Bupa’s ambitious digital transformation journey, which also includes the ongoing rollout of electronic care records, an interactive platform allowing relatives to view live updates on their loved ones, and several pilots involving memory games and apps designed to improve quality of life for those with dementia.

Rebecca Pearson, General Manager, Care Services, Bupa Global & UK said: “We always strive to provide the highest quality care at our homes and retirement villages and an important part of this is adopting the latest digital innovations.”

four seasons health care group logoFour Seasons Health Care

One of the UK’s largest independent healthcare providers, Four Seasons care for more than 10,000 people across the UK and run over 250 care homes. They provide long-term and respite residential and nursing care for older people and are an award-winning, sector leader in specialist dementia care.

Craig Rainford, Operations Systems Manager, said: “As part of a restructuring in our business over the past 12 months our goal was to streamline our approach to quality and assurance systems providing a single common interface across our various business processes to our care homes and regional teams. Additionally, we needed to lower our costs and most importantly save our team members’ time so they can spend more precious time caring for our residents.

With the introduction of Radar Healthcare not only have we replaced 3 existing quality and assurance systems with 1 we have also enhanced those business processes as well, enabling us to capture better quality data in a more efficient manner. This has enabled our care homes to take greater control of their services whilst providing our regional teams with deeper insight into each of those individual services so they can provide targeted support where necessary. This allows them to confidently demonstrate to our regulators and other stakeholders that they have a robust service enabling them to deliver excellent outcomes for our residents.”

Methodist Homes

Just 3 weeks after a project kick-off meeting with our team, Methodist Homes implemented Radar Healthcare to mobilise a COVID-19 outbreak event and workflow. With over 7,500 staff supporting over 18,500 older people nationwide, they knew the value the data would have in supporting the team to understand trends as well as the situation within specific localities so were keen to get this up and running as soon as possible.

Rebecca Anthony, Associate Change Manager at MHA said: “When I found out we could use Radar Healthcare to manage and monitor events and see all the data, I was really looking forward to getting started straight away. Although we hadn’t fully used the system yet, it was so easy to work with Radar Healthcare and they got us up in running so quickly, including importing all our users and permissions! Our sites were able to log COVID-19 Outbreak related events so we could start to build a clear picture of where we are at and offer support to affected sites.”

Sanctuary Care

Part of Sanctuary Group, Sanctuary Care is a care home provider, offering high-quality services for the elderly, including residential, nursing, and dementia care. They have 100 care homes, 4,400 residents, and 6,300 employees.

Julia Rice, Business Compliance Manager for Sanctuary Care, said: “Radar Healthcare has transformed the way Sanctuary Care uses systems and how we access our data, within our homes and across our central teams. Prior to Radar Healthcare, we were operating eight systems with lots of information that were not really talking to one another, which took valuable time in keeping up-to-date and finding the information we need. Radar Healthcare has given us the means to see sight of the bigger picture, that not only connects the dots for us internally, but has made our operations more efficient, and in turn increased our compliance support with external regulators. At Sanctuary, we are passionate about innovative technologies and Radar Healthcare is a big part of that.”

Avery Healthcare

Avery Healthcare is well-known in the industry, with 4000 residents and 5000 workers in 60 care homes across the country.

Avery Healthcare wanted to record and document metrics and data which specifically related to their residents’ wellbeing, data that isn’t regularly recorded on off-the-shelf systems. For instance, they collect data on whether residents have daily outdoor activities. As this was something important to the organisation, Avery Healthcare had created a system for themselves, in-house, to enable them to record this. However, needing a more effective way to measure events, Avery Healthcare looked at different systems that not only drill down into the risk around the home but also the well-being of the residents and the staff.

Sharon Winfield, Chief Operating Officer at Avery Healthcare, adds: “Our priority is keeping our residents and the business safe, so we needed something that matched it in every way, so it doesn’t put too much pressure on the managers.”
