EIDO Patient Information New Library-Wide Updates
At Radar Healthcare, we are continually reviewing and improving EIDO Patient Information to ensure it remains clear, consistent and clinically robust.
As part of this commitment, we have recently completed a major library-wide review and update across the full EIDO Patient Information library. This process has made consistent improvements to wording, structure and standard phrases used throughout the patient information documents to improve patient understanding, accessibility and alignment.
This project reflected a significant amount of detailed editorial and clinical review across the library, with updates applied to key sections including shared decision making and informed consent, preparation, medication, complications, recovery and follow-up.
The updates further strengthen consistency across the library, making it more patient centred and easier to use, whilst maintaining the trusted clinical detail customers expect from EIDO Patient Information.
This article explores the latest updates made to the EIDO Patient Information library in detail, and how the next phase of this project will progress.
Key updates across the EIDO Patient Information Library
The review introduced a wide range of improvements designed to make information easier for patients to understand.
Key updates include:
- Clearer wording around informed consent and shared decision making
- Improved guidance relating to allergies, pregnancy testing and blood-thinning medication
- More consistent explanations of anaesthetic options, infection risks and blood clots
- Enhanced recovery guidance following sedation and procedures
- Advice on when patients should contact their healthcare team
We have also standardised terminology across the library to improve consistency between documents. This includes aligning references to procedures, operations, healthcare teams and specialist roles where appropriate.
Strengthening Practical Patient Guidance
Alongside terminology and structural improvements, the review also strengthened practical patient advice throughout the library.
Updated guidance includes clearer information on:
- Smoking and reducing surgical risks
- Hand hygiene and infection prevention
- Pain medication and recovery support
- Driving and flying after surgery
- Reducing the risk of blood clots during recovery
In some areas, wording has also been refined to reduce repetition, improve readability and make instructions more direct and easier for patients to follow.
Continuing to improve the EIDO Patient Information library
The next phase of the project will focus on translated content across the EIDO Patient Information library, beginning with Welsh before being applied across the other 30 languages we offer.
Overall, this library-wide review represents an important step in ensuring EIDO Patient Information content remains accessible, consistent and aligned across the full document set.
By improving clarity and standardisation throughout the library, we are helping healthcare organisations provide patients with information that is easier to understand, supports informed decision making and delivers a more consistent experience wherever EIDO Patient Information documents are used.
