Case Study: Signature

About Signature

Signature is a multi-award-winning group offering luxury assisted living, nursing and dementia care in 13 locations across London and the home counties.

Signature’s unique accommodation is suitable for those who wish to live independently with discreet care when needed, right the way through to palliative care and specialist care for those living with memory loss.

Why did Signature choose Radar Healthcare?

In 2016, Signature were growing and had plans to open new care homes. The senior leadership team needed a quality and compliance solution to help them:

  • Understand and mitigate the risks at each location
  • Aggregate quality and compliance trends across the estate
  • Capture details of events, accidents and incidents in a central location
  • Put automated action plans in place to track, resolve and prevent future incidents

How was Radar Healthcare implemented?

Radar Healthcare’s quality and compliance software gives Signature’s senior leadership team corporate oversight on event reporting, enabling trend mapping and the review of early warning indicators to put necessary action plans in place.

These tailored action plans are built into the software, so everyone knows what they need to do and when. Automatic alerts mean that care quality and governance procedures are adhered to at all times when incidents occur or complaints are made.

CQC inspection outcomes

Radar Healthcare functions CQC inspection comment*
Incident management “The provider had systems in place to ensure duty of candour responsibilities were followed. Electronic reporting systems prompted staff to consider contact with people and relatives following accidents, incidents and complaints.”
Risk management “There was a clear governance framework at the service. Due to its large size, the service had senior staff presence on each floor and robust systems to monitor risks at the service. There were governance meetings in areas such as medicines, nutrition and falls. These were used to discuss individual needs and respond to patterns or trends that indicated changes to risk.”
Audit management “Audits were carried out regularly that covered areas such as medicines, cleanliness, health and safety and documentation.”
Action and improvement plans “Where audits identified areas for improvement, the provider added these to an ongoing quality improvement plan. Action was taken to proactively address issues.”
Workforce compliance “Staff demonstrated a good knowledge of subjects they had received training in and told us they were supported to obtain further qualifications if they wished. We checked the training matrix and found that staff had access to wide range of training including dementia awareness, moving and handling and infection control.”
Document management “Staff received safeguarding training and there was a whistleblowing policy, which staff had a copy of and could access on the provider’s computer systems.”
