Innovation and care at the core
One of the most notable success stories has been the implementation of life-saving equipment for pre-term babies, through a new, streamlined, custom event workflow within Radar Healthcare.
“One of our biggest successes was we designed, with the support team, an event for innovations and essentially what that means is a member of staff quite easily can log in to Radar Healthcare, select events and submit an innovation idea. It could be a very simple idea, could be a very complex idea. But the main thing really is it’s recorded, Radar Healthcare then helps us to make decisions around that idea. The way that you get good ideas to deliver quality and safety to patients is to listen to the people that that are doing the job. So, now we’ve had more than about 120 innovation ideas, so it’s more about understanding the opportunities and the benefits and thinking a little bit outside of the box of the power of what Radar Healthcare can do.” – Darren Davies Midlands Air Ambulance Charity
A further success has been with Sky Bennett, a 16-year-old patient of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s exceptional service, here she shares her experience and the crucial role played by the air ambulance team. “The care and reassurance I received were beyond words, she expressed. Thanks to them, my recovery was far better than it could have been.”
A Commitment to Quality and Efficiency
Darren Davies, Head of Quality and Compliance and CQC registered manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, emphasised the charity’s dedication to maximising patient care. Selecting Radar Healthcare was a pivotal step in our mission to maintain the highest quality of care explained Darren. “Their comprehensive solution enables us to manage incidents, ensure our staff are expertly trained, and maintain rigorous standards efficiently and effectively.”
Like every other healthcare provider, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity are subject to regulatory inspections and in 2024, they were awarded “Outstanding” at two locations. The CQC’s inspection framework advocates for service providers to gather additional feedback from service users and to demonstrate their commitment towards enhancing their service quality based on this feedback. With Radar Healthcare, collecting, tracking, and substantiating such feedback has become an effortless task.
“Radar Healthcare gave us considerable amount of information following the requests, both during the inspection and afterwards, and some examples would be confirming and providing evidence of our training requirements in our completion, and we could provide compliance data quite easily by clicking a couple of buttons in relation to our incident report in our near misreporting and also our positive incident reporting and the audit function was able to provide assurance of daily checks, quality assessments. So, several of the elements they look for in regulated activities Radar Healthcare helped us to provide that evidence easily, comprehensively and succinctly.”
A Partnership Built for Success
To implement a system like Radar Healthcare, collaboration among multiple stakeholders is crucial. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity was no exception. They needed a risk, quality, and compliance solution that wasn’t just about ticking boxes; they wanted a tool that was straightforward, effective, user-friendly, reliable and that delivered meaningful, actionable insights. They sought reassurance for their board, regulators, and ultimately for the community they serve, and that’s precisely where they saw Radar Healthcare’s strengths.
“Our system is designed not just to monitor but to enhance quality and safety through dynamic, real-time analytics, thereby offering the deep assurance levels our partners depend on.” Paul Johnson, CEO of Radar Healthcare
Implementing Radar Healthcare is not a one-size-fits all approach
Each organisation, that we partner with will tackle this in a way that is suited to their teams. In the case of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity,
“The way in which we implemented it really was with the support of the Support Team. So, we were allocated a Project Manager to help guide us through the best way to implement. We implemented in modules, so we didn’t try and do everything in one go. So essentially, we built the building blocks up, we implemented our event reporting initially, followed by utilising it for document management. So, it was almost a phased approach where we implemented things slowly and we implemented to our clinical team first then rolled out to the wider team. So, it was a phased approach, but very much supported by Radar Healthcare to explain.” – Darren Davies, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity
"We are incredibly proud of our ongoing partnership with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
