“Since implementing Radar Healthcare, we can provide support to our services much faster than before. As a complex care provider, we support people who display behaviours of concern or have other risk factors. If we can reduce those events, people can enjoy a much better quality of life. Being able to export information and snapshot data at any point, helps us analyse data across the whole company or by region or service, and use it to make informed decisions.”
Summary of Success:
Improved quality of life
More immediate reporting has helped to reduce the number of severe incidents, which has significantly impacted on people’s wellbeing.
Streamlined incident reporting and data collection
In FY24, over 20,500 incidents were logged, a 64% increase on FY23 - a direct contrast to the “very complicated Incident Management System we had before Radar Healthcare, which led to most of our teams having to fill in several pieces of paper when they reported an incident” - Helen Baxendale, Clinical Director.
Real-time tracking of incidents for immediate action
Over 1 million care interactions monitored annually. With real-time tracking, real-time actions can be taken, significantly improving the support that can be provided to all services.
Notable reduction in physical aggression and restraint incidents
"We've achieved a 50% year-on-year reduction in incidents requiring physical restraint and a notable decrease in injuries related to physical aggression" - Mark Henry, Head of Behavioural Support and Mental Health.
Centralised document management for compliance and updates
Centralised policy management for improved access, using a system that is already embedded within the organisation.
Enhanced health and safety culture within the organisation
With all health and safety audits now within Radar Healthcare, the organisation has seen a “really positive change in our health and safety culture.”
Positive feedback on system usability from staff
“For the staff teams on the front line, Radar Healthcare has actually improved the way that they report incidents and complaints in a very timely manner.” - Helen Baxendale, Clinical Director.

Six years ago, Exemplar Health Care relied entirely on paper-based systems, including a cumbersome Incident Management System that required staff to fill out several forms for each reported incident. Recognising the need for a more efficient solution, their Clinical Director introduced Radar Healthcare, which has significantly simplified their processes, improved the reporting culture within the organisation and, more importantly, reduced the risk of harm to the people they support.
Helen Baxendale, Clinical Director, commented, “before using Radar Healthcare, complaints and compliments were managed at the home level. Now, we can report on compliments across the organisation and discuss them in executive and board meetings. This change has brought some really positive affirmations of actually what the homes do on a daily basis, which is amazing.”
Benefits of Digitising Audit Processes
By implementing Radar Healthcare, the team aimed to achieve digitalisation of all their health and safety processes, including audits. On reflection, James says that, “I feel those objectives have been met and even exceeded.”
The annual health and safety audit is now divided into six sections and has been implemented onto Radar Healthcare. Talking about this process, James Haggarty adds, “we had a project manager who helped us implement that process, which made it much easier. Together, we reviewed the question sets and assessed whether they would work in a digital format. Everyone in the work group was given access to the staging platform to test the system before going live. We previously used another digital platform, but feedback on it was not favourable. Transitioning to Radar Healthcare has brought a positive shift in our health and safety culture, as users have found it much easier to navigate compared to the previous system.”
"We're getting much better data and we are getting much more out of it. It's easier to report from and we can develop much more accurate behaviour support strategies that are much more likely to be effective first time around."
Real-Time Data at Your Fingertips
The implementation of Radar Healthcare has significantly improved the speed and efficiency of tracking and reporting incidents relating to behaviours of concern, allowing for real-time action to reduce risks and provide faster support to service users. Prior to the implementation of Radar Healthcare the central Behaviour Support Team could only really track and report on data every four weeks. Now they can see incidents as they happen and take real time action to ensure that the risk of harm is reduced.
Mark Henry, Head of Behavioural Support and Mental Health comments, “the biggest benefit for us was the speed with which we have information. I could always have collated all the paper records and gone through them all, but it would have taken me weeks whereas now I can do it as soon as they happen and it takes me very little time. It is about three clicks of a button for me to pull all the incidents for a particular service user for example.”
Streamlining Compliance with Ease
Achieving standardisation and compliance company-wide hinges on providing colleagues with easy access to the most current documentation.
Jenna Wood, Head of Marketing, explains why they opted to use the Document Management System within Radar Healthcare to achieve this, “we use Radar Healthcare extensively and its document management module satisfied all our requirements. When we update key policies that need widespread acknowledgment, we handle this effortlessly through Radar Healthcare’s document management module. This offers us one central platform within an existing system that is already embedded within the organisation.”
Celebrating Success at Exemplar Health Care
Reflecting on some of Exemplar Health Care’s major accomplishments since implementing Radar Healthcare, the results have been quite impressive. The tangible impacts of Radar Healthcare have had a significant effect. Helen Baxendale, Clinical Director, remarked, “the rollout of the system within our organisation has been seamless with no incidents at all. The investment into the system has been entirely justified.”
James Haggarty added, “Radar Healthcare is the platform for a healthcare organisation it’s been a real improvement across the board in terms of the systems that we’re using.”
